Biography

My interest in creating art began in my early childhood and was encouraged by my teachers. I was honored to be selected to attend Cass Technical High School in Detroit on a special scholarship program which was organized like a college. The accelerated program allowed us to complete all high school requirements in 2 years, with the remaining 2 years focused on advanced classes in art and science. I then attended Eastern Michigan University majoring in fine art and education and received my BA. Although I continued to paint, my life’s path was typical of the times. I married, had 2 children, Alicia and Tanya, a house and a dog. I worked on my master’s degree in education and when my daughters were in school I began working as a reading instructor. My “working life” has included being a secretary, sign designer and painter, house painter, substitute teacher, teaching in special education, training and supervising sales associates in a major department store, and 17 years managing a sales staff for an international information provider. In 2003, I retired from life in the corporate world and resumed painting and working in stained glass full-time. Currently, I’m lucky to live on Lake Fenton and spend time fishing, boating, and swimming with my husband Roy, and our Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Chessie. Roy and I also enjoy golfing and entertaining family and friends at our home.
